Weekly Knowledge #3 - PRABDHA KARMA AND SANCHITA KARMA

PRABDHA KARMA AND SANCHITA KARMA

Some karma can be changed and some cannot.

When you prepare halwa, if sugar is less or ghee is less, water more or less, it can all be adjusted, repaired. But once soji is cooked, it cannot be reversed.

If the buttermilk is sour, milk can be added, salt can be added to make it drinkable. But it can never be reversed back to milk.

Prabdha karma cannot be changed. Sanchita karma can be changed by spiritual practices. Satsang burns the seed of all negative karma.

When you praise someone, you take on their good karma. When you blame someone you take on their bad karma.

Know this and surrender both good and bad karma to the Divine and be free.

at the risk of sounding cliched, methinkx that we've done plenty of good karma to be here, now.... prabdha or sanchita....
Guruji says that grace will take care of the effects of most of the "negative" karmas... and of the "positive" ones too ;-))

I saw a nice little link between this knowledge sheet and a comment that Chidha had posted in one of the earlier sheets on losing your personality. (which he calls 'loosing' for some strange reason :-)

There is good karma, bad karma, no karma and beyond karma (a state that in the Bhagwad Gita, Krishna refers to as Nishkarma). Nishkarma is a state of non-doership. How is non-doership possible if we are stuck to personality?

Interestingly, by abstaining from action, we cannot be free from karma. Abstaining from action is first of all impossible (for inaction is action too). Only when you work your butt off, do you realise that it is all anyway happening and I am not the doer.

Knowledge is, has been and always will be paradoxical.
